Ready Maid

It's official, I have my four bridesmaids signed on board. We are having small-ish wedding parties- only four and four. My maid of honor will be Hala, my biffle here in law school. My other three 'maids will be Sam and Jess, my best friends from URI, and Kelsey, Steve's good friend from URI. Kelsey was just studying in Australia for a while, so Steve waited until she was back stateside to ask her. Now they're all in line! My older sister Sarah, while not "in the wedding," does know Steve and me the best, so she will be giving the toast during the reception. We are happy with that arrangement-- she doesn't have to parade around like a goof in a matching dress, but she gets to participate. Perfect!

I've always wanted to have navy bridesmaids dresses. And while I went back and forth about which styles to go with, I ended up (at the suggestion of veteran bridesmaid, Hala) just going with David's Bridal because they are cheap, easy, and have a kagillion (Steve cringes somewhere as I type that) styles. Their closest color to navy is "marine." Works for me. Easy peasy. Gonna pick like 7 or 8 styles and tell the ladies to go to town. These are the current favorites. They're all like $125-$135, which ain't bad for 'maid dresses these days. I just could not justify asking three recent grad school grads and one struggling working girl to spend J. Crew prices in this lovely economy (or anyone else's prices, for that matter!). No one really wears the dresses again. Legit.

Now for Steve to get his groomsman ducks in a row. Just gotta make it official!

  1. Wow congrats on getting all the girls figured out and choosing a color! I had a great experience with David's Bridal, I had my girls each choose their own style too!
