We Did It! We're Married!

"We've got time" is starting to lose its effectiveness

That used to be our mantra with all things wedding related-- "we've got time!" Well.... we don't! Time has flown and we are about a month and a half from the big merger. There is still a ton to do.

Being that I just finished the unmitigated hell that is the bar exam (+ moved), I finally have time again to deal with wedding tasks. We're down to the minutiae of wedding details, sure, but these are still important details that people might miss if they weren't there. Like: an officiant (duh), food choices, cake, transportation, etc. Steve still needs a wedding ring, and we've got to get going on a marriage license. If I was tuned into one thing during the bar exam study period, it was marriage requirements (and we've got none so far, oops!). But fear not! These things are being dealt with.

This coming Saturday, Steve and I are going to meet with the pastry chef at the Dunes Club to discuss cake. I hope we do more than discuss it-- I want some cake! A little cake tasting at 10am never hurt anyone ;)

Food and wine selections will be made sometime.... I just don't know when. The other day, I told Dennis, longtime bartender extraordinaire at the Dunes Club, "oh, let's worry about [the wine] later. We've got time." He laughed and reminded me that no, I don't. That worked two and three summers ago when yes, we DID have time!

My friends threw me a fabulous bachelorette party this past weekend. We played pub golf in Newport, which entailed lots of overtly preppy clothes, drinks, and debauchery. It was fantastic to see my friends from all corners of my life pulled together for me (little me?!). I'm so looking forward to the bridal shower and the wedding now! Steve and his man-folk are going fishing next week for his bachelor party. He wouldn't have it any other way, I'm sure!

Finally, we want to bestow congratulations upon Matt Noble and Emily Dill, who are getting married this Saturday, the 14th. That day happens to mark the 39th wedding anniversary of Mark and Peggy Noble, the father and mother of yours truly! Congratulations are in order, all around!

Big Year!

This is a big year for us. We're finally getting married, yes, but we're also finally finishing up grad school (for now...). I graduated from law school in May, and Steve completes his masters this fall. Half the reason our engagement was so lengthy was because we knew we both had more school to complete before we wanted to throw marriage into the mix. So, with school almost out of the way, the big day is almost here. School gave us each a wonderful opportunity to focus on our passions and develop our geekdom further. It also gave us a nice opportunity to do our own thing for a while before the wedding. Steve and I did not live together...in fact, we lived about as far from one another as you can while still both living in the great state of Rhode Island. While challenging, it was a valuable experience for both of us, and it will make that first month or two together feel even more special.

We've got 99 days until the wedding...!

So, with 99 days left, Mom and I ordered the invitations (finally).

Happy Mother's Day!

Steve and I were each blessed with strong, funny, sensible moms who have loved and supported us throughout our lives, and for that we are thankful. We wish a Happy [Grand]Mother's Day to Nana, my mother's mother, who is the sharpest, hardest working, and most headstrong of all the eightysomethings we know. Thanks for being such great role models and caretakers, ladies.
