76 Trombones Led the Big Parade...

Last year, Steve and I went to my cousin's wedding in Maine. Aside from being amazingly fun and gorgeous (despite the buckets of rain...!), it was an outrageous party. So. Much. Fun. There we are, just hanging out in the ginormous tent, having a drink, listening to the DJ, when all of a sudden, the music sounds really close.

And then a marching band marched in.

And it was insane.

And I got pre-wedding jealousy.

For what seemed like 3 or 4 raucous hours, the What Cheer? Brigade of Providence, Rhode Island, rocked the Maine (or was it NH?!) woods. It was nuts. Check them out: http://www.whatcheerbrigade.com/

So, long story short, I knew I couldn't have them at our wedding, but I wanted-- no, needed-- live music. It was such an experience. And good thing, too: my parents (ie: those who are paying for this) wanted a lived band too.

So we are in the process of booking Eight to the Bar, an incredibly talented, fun, crazy group that I've seen several times before. Hell, if they get my dad dancing (which they have), they must be good.

In other wedding news-- oh wait, there is none. Still in The Lull.

Mom, Dad, Steve, and I all had dinner at the Dunes Club the other night to "visit the wedding," as I like to say. We sat inside where the wedding will have to be if, as my mother ruefully predicts, a hurricane decides to hit on Sept 25, 2010. Oh well, wouldn't be the first Guarino wedding with an uninvited guest- a hurricane. Must be good luck!
